Creating Brands
people Recognise.

A portfolio should do more than show beautiful work.
It should demonstrate how we think, what we solve, and how strategy becomes something customers can see, experience and remember.

MORE THAN DESIGNs

Every project has a story.

We document our work through five questions:

01

What was happening?

Understanding the business context.

02

What was the challenge?

Identifying what needed to change.

03

What did we discover?

Finding the insight that shaped the direction.

04

What did we create?

Turning strategy into an identity or experience.

05

What changed?

Understanding the outcome and opportunity created.

THE GL CREATIVE STANDARD

We don't judge our work only by aesthetics.

Every project is assessed against:

  • CLARITYCan the audience understand it?
  • DISTINCTIVENESSCan they distinguish it?
  • RECOGNITIONCan they remember it?
  • CONSISTENCYCan it work across multiple touchpoints?
  • PURPOSEDoes the design solve the intended problem?
  • FLEXIBILITYCan the system grow with the business?

OUR WORKING BELIEF

“A beautiful design is not automatically a successful brand.”

A successful brand needs:

  • MeaningEvery brand needs something worth communicating.
Before we choose a colour, typeface or visual style, we need to understand the meaning behind the business.
    What does it stand for?
    Who does it serve?
    Why does it exist?
Without meaning, design can become decoration.
  • StrategyCreativity needs direction.
We believe the strongest creative decisions come from a clear strategic foundation.
    Strategy helps us determine:
    What the brand should communicate
    Who it should communicate with
    What makes it different
    What customers should remember
Where the brand needs to go
Strategy doesn't restrict creativity. It gives creativity a reason to exist.
  • IdentityRecognition is built through distinctive expression.
A brand identity gives the strategy a visible and tangible form.
    Logo.
    Colour.
    Typography.
    Imagery.
    Graphic language.
    Tone of voice.
Together, these elements create something customers can recognise and associate with the business.
  • ConsistencyOne strong design is not enough.
A customer might encounter your business through Instagram today, your website tomorrow, your quotation next week and your signage next month.
They should still feel like they're interacting with the same brand.
    Consistency creates familiarity.
    Familiarity creates recognition.
    Recognition creates confidence.
  • ExperienceYour brand is experienced, not simply viewed.
A customer doesn't experience your brand only through its logo.
    They experience:
    The first message.
    The website.
    The quotation.
    The packaging.
    The staff.
    The service.
    The follow-up.
Every interaction either strengthens or weakens the brand.
  • RecognitionDesign should solve something.
We don't create simply because something needs to look better.
We create because something needs to communicate, differentiate, clarify, connect or move the business forward.
That means every creative decision should have a reason behind it.

LOOKING FOR A DESIGNER?

You may find cheaper design.
You may find someone who can produce a logo quickly.
You may even find someone who can create something visually impressive.

But if you're looking for someone to understand the business behind the brief, that's where our approach is different.

HAVE A PROJECT IN MIND?

Don't send us the design you want.

Tell us what you're trying to achieve.
We'll help you determine what needs to be created.

Good branding should not stay on a screen.

We take ideas from concept to real-world application through print, signage, fleet branding, apparel, promotional materials and more.
Your brand should be visible wherever your customers see you.
